Here's the final pieces for the Bait Shop x five & dime x Smolik collaboration t's and posters. The posters were a limited run of 10 while the t's got a run of 100. Everyone seamed to be hyped on these guys, and I'm happy with them (especially the poster).
Big ups Greg at the Bait Shop for making these come to life from a couple sketches.

The mob is growing so welcome new jack, Sema to the fam. Chuck even claimed "he's gonna be the next me".
Welcome to the Mob,

Painting in the Park. from Ryan Helstern on Vimeo.
BIg ups to all the homies in this: Momar, PH, Luke and Chuck. The day was fun and everyone had dope pieces, too bad those NTS cunts are jealous of real artists. I can't even get started on that bullshit right now. Anyways, thank you again PH for sitting in front of a computer screen for five hours today with me.
Be well,

Ok, here's the deal, I don't give a fuck if you cross me out as long as it's with a burner better then mine. I can not respect some down syndrome child with a can of paint who could barely handle putting a cross over me or one of the homies. This bullshit is completely disrespectful and not needed. I know these kids in their high school graffiti club NTS think they run shit with their terrible throw ups and whack hand styles, but it's just an embarrassment to anyone who actually can paint. These are the kids that make graffiti look bad and land real artists in jail instead of galleries. Graffiti isn't art unless an artist is doing it. Every wall that got crushed during Paint the Park also got the shittiest cross out I have ever seen. They couldn't even throw a decent bomb over these pieces. I'm tired of toys pretending to run shit and to be kings (sorry for the graffiti terms for anyone who doesn't paint). Nobody enjoys seeing your crappy NTS bullshit everywhere.
Stop making artists look bad,
Smolik
P.S- I'll add more flicks to this post when my camera gets it's Aids cleared up.
This past Saturday the crew was at Paint the Park in Barrie. We all threw down some nice stuff, (hopefully they'll post some pics of it on here), I was the last one done because I: a. got there late b. got rained out in the early afternoon c. am just generally a bit slower at my painting. Anyways I finished up before the sunset, here the pics of it.
Today was the opening of the homie Sage's show. So, I had to make an appearance and show love. After the opening was done with we gathered a small crew (consisting of Sage, his girlfriend Marta, WeeMan and myself) for some food. Our plan of attack was bad jokes, food and getting back to some old habits. Here's some flicks of us playing around at a spot that used to be so good. Nothing special, just some throw ups.

I lost my shit when I watched this. Maybe the best thing I've seen in years.
Get dirty,

David Choe is a fucking genius. If you can find a copy of the Juxtapoz with his interview in it, please read that at least once a month. He's an incredible talent.

I found myself with a pen in my hand and letters just flowing. I guess I should chill with Chuck more often. It's nothing special and a terrible excuse for a L if I've ever seen one but I might be onto something here. I'll post a final drawing or wall from this sketch.
Also working on a new hand style too. Not quite there yet.
Update: I some how found the motivation to figure that piece out and here it is. Now to figure out colours and paint it.
Update #2: The powers of photoshop let me try out colour schemes pretty easily. Not sure about this one though.

Hey hey,
Yesterday I was out with Jill and I stopped by Magic Pony. While I was there I managed to pick up Mike Giant's new book Muerte. It's so rad.
With that book and a great day spent with Jill I was all inspired to draw something. I didn't come up with much but at least it has some colour to it for a change.
